Welcome to the website of the Land Tax Department. This department forms an integral part of the Ministry of Finance and our primary function is the provision of accurate assessment of every parcel of land in Barbados, issuing demand notices for land tax and collection of this tax. However we are also the Government's advisor in all matters relating to land and provide valuations of properties that are required by Government agencies and Statutory boards.
The varied duties of the Land Tax Department ensure that there is constant interaction with the public. Whether it is with persons claiming compensation for land acquired by government; members of the legal fraternity transacting property matters or the general taxpayer, we strive to ensure that all our customers are aware of the kind of service to expect from us.
We are committed to providing an efficient, cost-effective and quality service to the public. To this end, we were the first Government Department to publish our Customer's Charter. This Charter can be viewed on the website by using the link provided. We are constantly exploring new avenues and processing capabilities to meet our service demands and customer expectations. The department has commenced the receipt of payments using debit and credits cards, and we hope to be able to accept on line payments in the not too distant future.
The Land Tax Department is proud of its long-standing reputation for professionalism, consistency, objectivity and integrity. I can assure you that the Land Tax Department's staff is fully committed to developing and maintaining the best possible standards of service and relations with its customers.
I hope you enjoy visiting our Website and find it interesting, informative and useful. We value your input and comments and welcome any kind of feedback, which you may have. Through Clarity, Commitment, Convenience, Competence and Courtesy, we are sure that we can continue to provide an excellent public service.
