The authority for the granting of Approved Developer status by the Minister of Finance lies within the Special Development Areas Act..
 
Application letters must be accompanied by the following details:
- A formal proposal
- Financial Statement
- Copy of Approved Plan by the Town Planning Division;
- Copy of a Land Tax bill confirming the map reference number of the property.
The decision is formally communicated to the applicant along with a copy of the Notice.
The status of 'Approved Developer' is valid for a period of fifteen (15) years and takes effect from the date of publishing in the Official Gazette.
The legislation is not retroactive.
