| The Ministry of Finance's policy provides for waiver of Import Duty and Excise Tax on the importation of vehicles by the senior administrative and teaching staff at the University of the West Indies who are recruited outside Barbados. |
| Applications must be submitted by the Campus Registrar at the UWI on behalf of the staff member and must be accompanied by the following: |
| - Copy of the job contract offered to and accepted by the staff member. Details relative to the vehicle including: |
| Make/Model CIF Value Engine Number Chassis Number Warehouse/ Entry Number (if being purchased ex-warehouse) Name of Vessel Arrival Date of Vessel |

CONDITIONS
|
| - The vehicle must be imported within six months from the arrival date of the applicant; |
| - The vehicle must be held for three (3) years following the grant of concession failing which the un-expired portion of the duties and taxes shall become payable to the Crown; |
| - Duties and taxes shall also become payable to the Crown in the event of the following: |
| Expiration
of the employment contract; Resignation of the staff member; |
| - The payment of duties and taxes will not be required if permission is obtained to have the vehicle exported from Barbados; |
| - The vehicle registration number issued by the Chief licensing Officer must be submitted to the Ministry of Finance within ten (10) working days of the vehicle being cleared |
| - The UWI must submit to the Ministry of Finance on a semi-annual basis a detailed listing of the academic staff. |
